Rafael & Emmylou Espinoza
Lessons are taught by Rafael and/or Emmylou Espinoza. The Espinozas have been married since 2014 and are the proud parents of identical twin boys.
Rafael & Emmylou are college-educated working musicians. They can teach students how to play by ear as well as how to read music notation. Most of all, the Espinozas work to provide every student with opportunities to perform with others in front of an audience.
Emmylou Hubbard Espinoza graduated with a B.A. in English and an A.A. in Music from TJC where she studied classical guitar. She's been teaching private music lessons for more than 10 years. Her teaching experience also includes teaching general music at a Christian private school. Emmylou has logged over 20 years performing, writing, recording, and traveling with The Hubbard Family Band. She won The Songwriters of Faith award in 2011. She specializes in country, bluegrass, trad, classical guitar, and rockabilly slap bass. Emmylou is a patient teacher who wants to help her students gain confidence and express themselves through music.
Rafael Espinoza graduated with honors and a B.A. in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music where he won a scholarship to study. He also has an A.A. in Music from TJC where he studied classical guitar (and met Emmy). He's a winner of the Heart of Texas Blues Challenge at Antone's in Austin, TX. In high school, Rafael was an active member of the marching band and in 2009 he won UIL All State Guitarist & Four States Guitarist. With experience in everything from marching band to jazz band to leading his own blues/rockabilly band, he is a showstopping performer and a knowledgeable teacher for many styles and instruments.
